EXERCISE – WCF Dark Start EXERCISE
This is an EXERCISE announcement
The ARRL West Central Florida Section Simulated Emergency Test (SET)
which takes place on Saturday morning February 7th, 2026 from 0900 through 1200.
The following is a drill message.
At around 0700 EST on February 6th 2026 a fire at
the transformer station next to the Nuclear power plant in Dade County,
FL caused multiple power generating facilities to go offline. The
automatic protection systems created a domino effect, and has darkened
most of the Gold Coast and Space Coast in eastern Florida. A
complicating factor is the recent opening of an AI Hub just west of Vero
Beach, putting a heavy strain on the electrical grid. The State has
alerted all 67 counties, and local emergency managers are monitoring the
progress of power restoration.
This is a drill, repeat this is a drill!!
The PinCo ACS Tactical-Resource net will be initiated on the W4ACS repeater beginning at 0830 local time on Saturday February 7th, 2026. All Pinellas ACS Personnel should monitor the net and follow instructions provided there.

- Tuesday November 25th – The weekly PinCo ACS 10 meter and ACS/ARES SKYWARN and Training Nets have been CANCELLED. Our next scheduled net will be on December 2nd.
- Wednesday November 26th – Weekly EOC Maintenance / Training has been CANCELLED. Our next scheduled Maintenance / Training period will be on Wednesday December 3rd.
December 2025
- Thursday December 18th – The Monthly PinCo ACS meeting at the PinCo EOC has been CANCELLED. Our next scheduled meeting will take place on January 15th, 2026.
- Tuesday December 23rd – The weekly PinCo ACS 10 meter and ACS/ARES SKYWARN and Training Nets have been CANCELLED.
- Wednesday December 24th – Weekly EOC Maintenance / Training has been CANCELLED.
- Tuesday December 30th – The weekly PinCo ACS 10 meter and ACS/ARES SKYWARN and Training Nets have been CANCELLED. Ours next scheduled net will be on Tuesday January 6th, 2026.
- Wednesday December 31st – Weekly EOC Maintenance / Training has been CANCELLED. Our next scheduled Maintenance / Training period will be on Wednesday January 7th, 2026.
2025 Cyberstorm Exercise Registration
Registration for the 2025 Cyberstorm Exercise is now open. The Exercise is scheduled for Saturday morning April 12th. It will run from 0700 to 1330
This statewide multi-county exercise is designed to evaluate the performance of Florida amateur and SHARES radio networks during a simulated communications emergency. Pinellas County ACS will activate the EOC radio room, deploy multiple command-runners to locations on the Public Safety Complex, and activate Simulated Evacuation shelters.

2025 Winlink training Workshop Registration
Registration for the 2025 Winlink Training Workshop is now open. The Workshop is tentatively scheduled for Saturday morning March 29th. It will run from 0830 to 1200. The workshop is designed to familiarize users with the Winlink skills needed operate a VHF Winlink station at a PinCo Emergency Evacuation shelter. No previous Winlink experience is required.
