PINELLAS COUNTY ARES


ACS/ARES consists of a corps of dedicated Amateur Radio Volunteers who meet
and train regularly to be ready to serve the people of their Communities
in Pinellas County, Florida

ACS/ARES Members needed. To join the ACS/ARES Group, complete the ACS/ARES Application - See Sign-up Instructions below



Please consider volunteering to be an ACS Unit Member. We recruit members to meet the needs of the Local City and County facilities for whom we provide communicators.
There are some nice priviledges for being a Pinellas County Volunteer.

  • Qualifications: Be at least 18 Years Old.
  • Preferably licensed either as an Amateur Radio Operator, a MARS Operator, but
    non-licensed civilians are also encouraged to Join.
  • Completion of the Pinellas County Volunteer Orientation Class in person or Online.

    All Stations who are manning Shelters or have an interest in doing so
    or will be communicating with Shelters during an Activation should download this file.

    2011 DHS/FEMA & FLEOC TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR ACS and ARES
    ARES MEMBERS who are willing to be deployed outside of our County or outside of Florida
    AND be Eligible for expense reimbursement

    This are the Suggested Basic Training Requirements for ALL ACS/ARES Personnel:

    ARRL EC-001 Basic Communications Course
    FEMA - IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System. (Required for the EC-001 Course)
    FEMA - IS 200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action
    *FEMA - NIMS IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction. (Required for the EC-001 Course)
    FEMA - IS-802 Emergency Support Function 2 Operators (ESF-2)
    (See the ACS/ARES Training Manual for the FEMA URL to find the ICS Courses.)

    * The IS-700 NIMS Course is the ONLY required Course for all ACS/ARES personnel.
    Taking the other courses listed gives us All a basic foundation for which all of us should
    strive to complete
